Nomura Research Institute, Ltd. (NRI) was born out of the 1988 merger between the former Nomura Research Institute, Ltd., founded in 1965 as Japan's first fully-fledged private sector think tank, and Nomura Computer Systems Co., Ltd., which was established in 1966 and achieved the first business applications for commercial computers in Japan. NRI was listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange in 2001, and celebrated the 50th anniversary of its founding in April 2015.
NRI has achieved long-term growth in both net sales and profits despite some fluctuations due to economic trends. In April 2015, NRI launched Vision 2022, our new long-term management strategy, and we are striving for sustained growth over the medium and long term.
